# Orthogonal Distance Fit of a Pyramid (Geodäsie/Vermessung)

Hi,

it doesn't work, when run it the message will appear " could not start the application"

Do you have installed Java? Your need at least version 1.6 or higher.

If I open a shell to check my installation, I get:

C:\>java -version
java version "1.7.0_11"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_11-b21)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.6-b04, mixed mode)

C:\>

what are the two algorithms?

Combined algorithm does not implicate the word two. It means, that the algorithm fits four planes together with the apex of your pyramid. So, you don't have to estimate each single plane and the apex in a separated way - you get it from one source.

what is the Octave(quick and dirty) code (i.e. why its name quick and dirty).

Octave is a powerful application for numerical computations. The phrase quick and dirty refers to my uncomment code with hard-coded values etc. This code was just a test case in order to show you a possible strategy.

Have a nice weekend
Micha
